Catch More Water, Earlier with the Forearm Fulcrum

EVF (Early Vertical Forearm) is a position that is a critical to fast swimming across the board. EVF is most often considered to be the "front end" of the stroke, or the start of the pull or catch. The Forearm Fulcrum locks the swimmer's wrist in line with their forearm, encouraging them to anchor their elbow and pull with a larger surface area.  A vertical forearm is seen when the elbows are kept high which also helps engage the muscles in the chest, core, and lats. Coupled with a timely rotation of the hips and torso, EVF will increase speed and also endurance over a longer sustained effort.

Learn to add EVF into your stroke with using the Forearm Fulcrum to complete these drills..

4 rounds (@ moderate intervals)
*First 2 rounds with the Forearm Fulcrum
75 Free
4 x 50 Freestyle Single Arm Drill (3 right, 3 left, 3 both arms)
75 Free
4 x 50 Cork Screw Drill (3 stroke free, 4 strokes back)

Finis Aqua PulseFinis took their time, to make sure they got this product perfect......and it is!

You will never stop to check your heart rate again. The AquaPulse™ verbally announces your heartrate while you swim.Just put  the AquaPulse™ inside your goggle strap, attach the soft rubber clip to your earlobe, and go swim. It uses an infrared sensor to monitor capillary blood flow, your heart beat is detected through your earlobe. The heart rate is then audibly communicated to you in real time, where the information is transmitted directly to your inner ear via Bone Conduction Technology. No ear buds, cumbersome chest straps, or watch devices are needed.

The heart rate announcements are made regularly in 10-second, 20-second, 30-second, 45-second, 1-minute, 2-minute or 5-minute increments. Push the “Instant Heart Rate” button to hear your last recorded reading again. Complete with a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, you can use the AquaPulse™ from five to eight hours depending on the interval setting. Simply plug the integrated USB directly into a USB port on your computer to recharge.

We had to wait.....but patience is again rewarded!! Click here to add buy online.

Congratulations to the Lyons Township High School Boys Swim Team for winning the Illinois State High School Sectional Meet, at Downers Grove (North) High School, Saturday, February 19.  In Illinois, to qualify for the State Meet swimmers must achieve their qualifying time at the Sectional Meet, so it's a pressure-packed meet. The Lions, entered the meet with ZERO qualifying times achieved during the regular season.

At the end of the day, the team qualified all three relays (200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay, and 400 Free Relay).  Additionally, the team qualified individual swimmers in the 200 free, 50 free, 100 free (two swimmers), 500 free, and 100 fly. Every member of the team posted personal best times, and the 400 Free Relay achieved a Junior National time, 3:11.73.

Here you can see the happy boys outfitted in great swim parkas from Splashwear! Great job Lyons Township and good luck at State!
